A Prayer from Psalm 119:33-40

 Devotional Reflection - Tuesday (10/28/25)

The Bible in a Year Online website just made some major updates.

The page is set up quite differently and rather than linking to biblegateway.com (so you can choose your preferred Bible version), the readings are listed on the page for that day in ESV, and you just click the tabs for each section.

It's still a very helpful guide but I am a little frustrated because there are a few extra steps to take now.

The readings are different now than they used to be, too. I wonder why they shifted.

For instance yesterday's was: JEREMIAH 51:1-53, TITUS 2:1-15, PSALM 99:1-9, PROVERBS 26:17.

Today's is: Jer 46:1-47:7, Titus 2:1-15, Ps 119:33-40, Prov 21:22-26, with the new format, so the same New Testament reading as yesterday, curious. They also haven't posted November and December yet, it's only showing through October so far.

I'm sure there's a good reason, but it's just odd.

I do appreciate that they've kept the audio portions in case anyone would rather listen. And I am still very grateful for this incredible resource, it will just take some getting used to.

Let's take a look at today's scriptures, then.

I'd like to highlight the Psalm 119:33-40 (NASB) reading today. I am just taking my time to read and pray this as a prayer a few times.

He

33 Teach me, the way of Your statutes, Lord,
And I shall comply with it to the end.
34 Give me understanding, so that I may comply with Your Law
And keep it with all my heart.
35 Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it.
36 Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
And not to dishonest gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from looking at what is worthless,
And revive me in Your ways.
38 Establish Your [a]word to Your servant
[b]As that which produces reverence for You.
39 Take away my disgrace which I dread,
For Your judgments are good.
40 Behold, I long for Your precepts;
Revive me through Your righteousness.

Father God, Thank You for giving us your Son Jesus to save us. Though we fail to comply with Your law and Your commandments, You have made a way for us to join You in eternity through the saving grace of Jesus. Please continue to teach me how You want me to live and help me to comply. Please give me wisdom to understand Your will for my life.

Thank You for Your love and Your mercy on us. Thank You for Your forgiveness and for Your blessings on us. I pray in Your Son Jesus' Name, Amen
