Prayer of Joy and Contentment
Devotional Reflection - Tuesday (10/21/25)
If there's only time to read one of these sections today, make it the part from 1 Timothy 6, especially verses 3-10:
3 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not [d]agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4 he is conceited and understands nothing; but he [e]has a sick craving for controversial questions and disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction between people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that [f]godliness is a means of gain. 6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either. 8 If we have food and [g]covering, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all [h]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many [i]griefs.
How true are these wise words, especially in today's modern society!
Father God, Thank You for blessing my family with everything we truly need. You have given us means to eat and rest and clothe ourselves, and you have given us love and contentment. Please help us to remember godliness is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. Thank You for the rich joy in our hearts when we are content and trust in You.
Thank You also for the good news of my son's health today during his appointment. You are so good to us and we are so grateful for Your hand over this situation. Please continue to keep him safe and help him to grow and thrive and lead him and guide him. Please draw him close to you and help him remember to pray. Thank You for loving him more than I can fathom. You are so good to me and to us.
Please help me to be a better mother and wife and help me to do the things I need to do each day. Please give me wisdom to do Your Will and build a joyful and God-Loving home. Thank You for this time to be quiet alone with You each day and for being with us always.
I pray these things in Your Son Jesus' Precious Name, Amen.
